How to work with us…

There are several ways to work with us. Sometimes you need everything from development to finishing touches, and sometimes you just need expert advice to get you unstuck in your design project. We can help with all of the above. Here’s how that works :

Full-Service Design Consultation

This level of service is the right fit for you if you have an intention for what you’d like to create, but don’t have the time, desire, or skills to achieve it on your own.  We help to articulate your vision, providing guidance from start to the finish and beyond. Here’s what to expect with full service design:

  • Project proposal with flat design fee: Prior to the start of our design phase, we’ll meet with you to determine the scope of work, make sure we are the right fit for each other, and then provide you with a written proposal outlining that scope of work with our design fee. Yes, we work on a flat design fee, so you know what the design budget will be prior to signing an agreement with us.* (You can always change or increase the scope of work, just understand it will change / increase the design fee.)
  • Meetings: Product, material and furnishing selection meetings with me – at your home and at showrooms. (Estimated number of meetings determined on scope and size of project)
  • Detailed project plans (Non-structural), articulating your vision for your build team to implement.
  • Project Guidebook: Detailed material, product and finish package, in writing, so everyone on your build team has clear guidance of how to carry out your vision. Materials and products that you need to purchase will be listed and made as “ready to buy” as possible.
  • Collaboration: One of the most important factors for a successful project is communication and teamwork. As much as we try to make the design and build process known up front, there will always be questions and challenges to solve. Each member of your build and design team comes with their unique experience and skill set, and when we work together, it ensures you get the best outcome for your project!
  • Welcome Home Guidebook: Though we aren’t there to do the heavy lifting, we’ll help to ensure you know how to use and care for your new space and keep guiding on the finishing touches. We work with you to gather and organize a comprehensive digital guidebook with care, maintenance and warranty information for the products, materials and finishes you now call yours!

Single Consultation – In Home (within 15 miles of Bentonville City Square )

These “one and done”, up to 2 hours consultations are for you if you don’t need a full project designed but still need professional guidance on a project. It can be helpful to have a second set of eyes on your vision, or to even give direction to your vision. All the work we do will be encapsulated within our 2 hour meeting, so please be ready to ask questions and take notes!  Here are some examples of what we can work on in 2 hours:

  • Select new paint colors for a room (or a whole house – depending on how comfortable you are with making quick decisions!)
  • Create an action plan of updating your kitchen.
  • Select new flooring for the whole house (or a room)
  • Create new layout for furniture in a living room
  • Select new bedroom furniture
  • Strategize an action plan to create a sense of cohesion from one room to the next
  • Select new lighting for the whole house (or a room!)

Single Consultation – Virtual via Zoom (30, 60, 90 minute sessions)

Same as above but virtual and quicker! Let’s answer some questions, give you direction and get you going toward your vision. Here are some examples of what we can do virtually:

  • Get a sense of how a designer works (for a larger project)
  • Review plans you’ve already had drawn by an architect
  • Help in hiring a contractor and what questions to ask to make sure you find the right fit
  • Advice on a design decision you are trying to make
  • Understanding the pros and cons of a specific material or product selection
  • (Paint is a bit hard to do via virtual since we are relying on inconsistent color rendering from our computers, so if you’d like to work on paint, have a Benjamin Moor or Sherwin Williams paint fan handy)
N

What we don’t do:

  • Structural plans – you’ll need a structural engineer or architect for that.
  • Procure products, materials and furniture – while we help select and often guide through purchasing, we don’t purchase for you, store, or warranty any products chosen for your project. We strive to make selections that are ready to purchase (though we can’t control inventories and supply chains!)
  • We are not marriage counselors! – But we will hold space for the trickier conversations that develop during design.
  • Heavy lifting: we’ll help with furniture layouts but not the moving of said furniture.
